Ducati Multistrada 1200: More pics, specs and video
Ducati claim the new Multistrada 1200 is four bikes in one – a sportsbike, long-distance tourer, urban and road enduro. Hmmm… we agree it looks interesting and it’s likely to have a wide range of abilities.
According to details available on the Ducati website, the 2010 Multistrada 1200’s Desmodromic, 8-valve, liquid-cooled L-twin – a modified version of the Ducati 1198’s engine – makes 150 horsepower at 9,250rpm and 119Nm of torque at 7,500 revs. The gearbox is a six-speed unit with slipper clutch and yes, the bike gets DTC traction control with multiple settings (Urban, Sport, Touring etc).
There’s the traditional steel tube trellis frame and the base model gets a fully adjustable Marzocchi 50mm USD fork and fully adjustable Sachs monoshock. The higher-spec Multistrada 1200s Sport and Touring models get 48mm Ohlins fork and Ohlins shock. The bike rides on 17-inch 10-spoke alloys.
The Multistrada 1200 gets twin 320mm brake discs at front, with four-piston radial-mount callipers and single 245mm disc at the back. ABS is optional. Fuel tank capacity is 20 litres and the bike weighs 189 kilos dry.
