Gordon Crockard to be guest speaker at Sports awards
Nominations for the Ards Borough Sports Awards are now open and British and Irish Motocross star Gordon Crockard will be the guest speaker at this year’s awards ceremony.
Gordon, who was born in Bangor, but lived from an early age in Newtownards, has been one of the true characters of British and Irish motocross in the past decade, and has been British Champion on three occasions and has represented Ireland 13 times.
Nominations for the awards can be made in nine categories including Sports Person of the Year, Sports Team of the Year, Young Sports Person of the Year (under 12), Young Sports Person of the Year (under 18), Under 12s Junior Team of the Year, Under 18s Junior Team of the Year, Sports Administrator of the Year, Sports Coach of the Year, and Lifetime Award.
The awards presentation will take place in the Queen’s Hall on Friday, February 19, 2010 and the closing date for nominations is 4pm on Friday, January 15.
