New venue in 2010 for Maxxis British motocross Championship
ACU Events Ltd, the Series Promoters have finalised all eight rounds for the 2010 series! With the introduction of three brand new venues, plus the return of a mid summer visit to Farleigh Castle, next year’s series looks to be heading for a magnificent spectacle, visiting all corners of the UK.
Added to this, new innovations are to be introduced with a return to three short, sharp races for both the MX1 and MX2 classes and a brand new Superpole for the top twelve qualifiers in the morning of each event.
However, the big news is that round seven of the series, on August 29th, will be at a brand new purpose built track at Silverstone. This was the final piece of the venue jigsaw which was announced by the Promoters Managing Director, Jim Parker, on Friday. ” As Promoters of the series, ACU Events are really pleased to once again produce such a high profile venue for the championship. Negotiations have been ongoing for several weeks, but we now have the go ahead to start work with publicising the event. With the infrastructure available at Silverstone, I am confident this will make an excellent penultimate round of the series.”
The race day format will now consists of the morning qualifying sessions and then three 20 minute plus two laps races for both the MX1 and MX2 classes with two supporting MXY2 (Youth) or Ladies or Veteran races at each event. However, the morning practise session has been changed. After fifteen minutes of free practise, riders will go straight into a fifteen minute timed training session (Q1) and then immediately the top 12 from Q1 will go into a Q2 Superpole one lap shootout. Series Manager, Brian Higgins enthused over the new format saying, ” There is no doubt that both of these innovations will increase the value to our valuable spectators and the Superpole will give the riders chance for a clear lap, whilst also giving a spectacle to the fans”
